And so, it's "Cheerio" to Tony Blair within the year.
This saddens me. I never had any hope for George W. Bush, but there was a time when I had hope for Tony Blair. When I not only believed what he said, but also believed in it. Unfortunately, for too many, that time is gone.

I felt the same way when he first took office, but I'm afraid once Bush took power here and Blair fell in line with some of his worst thinkking and actions, I was quickly disillusioned.
I liked him, too, at the first, but I think he felt a bit 'trapped' into siding with the US for a variety of reasons: 1) the fact that we're allies and not wanting to betray that alliance; 2) who really wants to side with terrorism? and 3) (and most importantly) we had Dubya as president. It was that third one that made it a real pain in the ass! For all involved! (Except, of course, for the most die-hard Republicans.)
He hasn't fooled me since being Bush and Cheney's mutual masturbation partner in the run-up to the illegal invasion of Iraq. Ever since then I wouldn't have crossed the street to take a piss on him if he was aflame. He will always be remembered as a Quisling puppet of the Cheney regime, America's thin fig leaf to try to lend false legitimacy to its otherwise naked aggression against Iraq.
