Going along with what Michael said, we were taught in school that war is good from an economical standpoint, especially if your country is financially depressed. But we weren't in a depression- other than the deep emotional funk of 9/11 and having Bush as a President- so that's not even a viable underlying motivation. Our debt is astronomical because of this war, so that doesn't wash either.

BTW, this doesn't mean that I think war is good. I don't. Just to be clear. *G*
